Quality, Ethics & Professional Responsibility
IABP is committed to professional integrity, confidentiality, objectivity, quality, responsible data handling and continuous improvement.
Commitment
Eight principles that govern every engagement
IABP is committed to professional integrity, confidentiality, objectivity, quality, responsible data handling and continuous improvement. These principles apply equally to work performed by the IABP team, by consultants in the professional network, and by implementing partners.
Integrity
We are straightforward and honest in professional relationships, including when the finding is unwelcome.
02Confidentiality
Client information is not disclosed or used outside the engagement without authority or a legal obligation to do so.
03Professional Competence
Work is assigned to people with the competence to perform it, and declined where that competence is not available.
04Objectivity
Judgements are not compromised by bias, conflict of interest or undue influence from any party.
05Quality Control
Deliverables are reviewed before release, at a depth appropriate to the risk and nature of the engagement.
06Client Responsibility
Roles are defined in writing. Management retains responsibility for its records, representations and decisions.
07Regulatory Compliance
Engagements are structured to comply with applicable law, professional standards and licensing requirements.
08Data Security
Client and personal data is handled under defined technical and organizational controls.
In practice
How the principles are applied
Principles matter only where they change what happens on an engagement. These are the points at which ours do.
At acceptance
Competence, independence and conflicts are considered before an engagement is accepted.
At assignment
Work is allocated to the internal team, a network consultant or a partner based on the competence required.
Before release
Deliverables pass a technical and quality review proportionate to the engagement risk.
After delivery
Findings feed back into templates, training and the Academy curriculum.
Important disclaimer
IABP does not represent itself as a statutory audit, tax, legal or other regulated professional firm in a jurisdiction unless appropriately authorized to provide such services. Where local authorization is required, assignments are performed or supported through appropriately qualified and authorized professionals or firms.
